History

Date of Birth: June 14th, 1960
Home: Los Altos, California, United States
Family: James and Leticia Dakota (parents), Mortimer (older brother), Neil (older brother)
Death: Personal Tragedy (wealthy family, father an investment banker, and while Carey noted as heir, older brothers controlled interests as father retired due to Carey's untreated mental illness—thought perhaps to be MPD, but was more likely a schizotypal personality disorder, so he was a "stay at home" young man well into his 20s; died before he could reconcile his life goals or illness when the family plane crashed during a vacation trip, killing him and his parents), 1986
Mentor: Storm Yarley
The Test: Trial by Knowledge (Reaped alone by a Ferryman who brought the confused Enfant to "bidding" by local non-Stygian leaders; his artistic skills in life, while undeveloped, fate-marked him and the Masquers claimed his soul; they taught him the ropes of the afterlife while helping him develop Moliate)
Comrades: Joan Chapman
Key Event #1: Awe & Wonder (Carey didn't really mind where he ended up in the afterlife, so long as he could finally wrestle with his "inner demons", but as he submitted to the instruction of the malleability of corpora, he found himself less grappling with his befuddled psyche and more channeling it into his Moliations)
Key Event #2: Awe & Wonder (this single-minded focus on his divided psyche helped him master Moliate with astounding versatility and to manipulate corpora in unusual ways, earning a reputation as one of the most skilled Masquers in the necropolis)
Transition: Shift in Nature (but as he mastered Moliate, he found a way to transfer his psychosis into it, able to split at least himself into two doppelgangers or even three "treppelgangers" at once, each with a slightly different personality—and bearing the names of his older brothers, who still lived, but had long bullied their disturbed little brother and existed now as bogeymen of his own consciousness under his power—except of course when his Shadow usurped control!—and all of these disturbing developments alienated him from most other ghosts, even his own Guild)

The Shadow

Appearance: Carey's Shadow takes the form typically of his father (occasionally his mother if the Shadow is attempting a "soft touch"), who was strict and had high expectations and demands of his child—and continues to even after death.
Trigger: Whenever he's placed at serious risk or on the cusp of a great new experience.

Haunt

Location: Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California, United States
Structure: Cabin
Stock: Old wooden shack or tool shed, in a natural indentation in the Shadowlands earth
Traits: Haunt 2

Significant Other

Name: Joan Chapman, 2010
Nature: Volatile

Joan

Weakness
Split Personality & Split Personality

Carey's consciousness was split when he died, not just between Psyche and Shadow, but between Psyche and Psyche and Psyche. There are always three voices, three brothers who are him but also aren't him. If that sounds confusing, that's because it is. Luckily, it confuses his Shadow, too.

Likelihood of Corruption

Average.

Having three personalities plus the Shadow at war in one's head can be very disconcerting and it often makes him irritable and violent. But he's aware enough of his environment that he can generally channel that misery at deserving targets.
