History

Date of Birth: January 19th, 1809
Home: Baltimore, Maryland, United States
Family: David and Eliza Poe (parents), Rosalie (younger sister)
Death: Personal Tragedy (as the famous poet and critic, Edgar Allan Poe, he endured a life of emotional and financial conflict and after his beloved wife died, he turned more and more to alcohol abuse to cope, finally perishing from a combination of alcohol poisoning and political cooping--where he was abducted by a political gang, plied with more alcohol than he could stand, and forced to vote over and over for their candidate), 1849
Mentor: Burlina the Wise
The Test: Trial by Wit (Chanteurs Reaped his spirit in the necropolis of Baltimore, and he learned of the afterlife and how to survive the Underworld from them; however, he found the Guild too full of pointless fops, abandoned it for the Byways, and made his way across the Shadowlands under the alias of "Seymour Wightman")
Comrades: Sienna Elliott, Honey Elwin, Melia Garner, Rodney Merrick, Tybalt Peverell, Kiera Portman, Aileen Gray, Kynley Gray
Key Event #1: Awe & Wonder (with other ex-Chanteur dissidents like the Gray Twins, he established the Dead Poets "Guild", later shortened just to Dead Poets, which would be branded as a Renegade "gang" by Stygia)
Key Event #2: Awe & Wonder (he helped poach Sandmen and Chanteurs alike, since his kind of artistry tended to lack a ready supply of the medium)
Key Event #3: Awe & Wonder (like other Dead Poets, even in death, he continued to compose poetry and literary works, often employing, and mastering as a consequence, Phantasm to inspire mortals to transliterate his ideas and prose in the Skinlands; even though they claimed the work as their own--though a few were a bit kooky and actually realized that ghosts were inspiring them--it was one way to ensure the work would escape Oblivion)
Key Event #4: Personal Tragedy (still, he grew more and more irritated over the decades by the whole restrictive set-up, and withdrew more and more from interaction with even other Dead Poets)
Transition: Shift in Purpose (nevertheless, he always sought "that one", a poet-ghost with both talent and a seemingly endless supply of relic paper, and he hoped he finally found it and perhaps true love itself in the tragic soul of Sienna Elliott)

The Shadow

Appearance: Seymour's Shadow appears to him as a contrarian wretch, sophomoric and rebellious, infatuated with blood and gore and the horrors of the night. Unfortunately, this sort of darkness has little sway over Seymour's passionate romanticism.
Trigger: Whenever the chance to pursue his past hobbies is presented.

Haunt

Location: Lafayette Cemetery, Garden District, New Orleans, Louisiana, United States
Structure: Bunker
Stock: Typical mausoleum vault: a sarcophagus (that isn't his) and vases full of withered flowers
Traits: Haunt 2

Artifacts

Lesser Quill
Appearance: An old-fashioned quill pen and ink set.
Origin: Gift
Effects: Write down lists, notes, clues, poems, dirty limericks...assuming one has something to write on.
Activation: The ink is a bottomless well, so long as the Pathos of creative passion pours into its intended use.

Relics

Several Sheafs of Blank Paper
Appearance: Blank, thick, high-quality artisan paper.
Origin: Gift
Effects: As paper in the Skinlands: a rarity in the Underworld.
Activation: He keeps 5-7 pieces on hand at any given time.

Significant Other

Name: Sienna Elliott, 2012
Nature: Romantic

Sienna

Weakness
Head in the Rain Clouds

Seymour, Edgar, whatever the name he chooses to go by, endures the afterlife much as he did his breathing life. Passion, emotional pathos and impression (romanticism), and a search for the sublime dominate his existence and drive him occasionally into dangerous circumstances.

Likelihood of Corruption

Low.

Despite his advanced "age", he's long whipped his Shadow by embracing the value of darkness and misery rather than dwelling in it like a depressed teenager.
